Weekend Day change

This would not go over in the States, I'm sure.  It would cause a serious breakdown of well, everything.  I imagine protests and people suing the government.  Or it would take years in court to do.  Here, just a wave of the hand from the Sultan and life goes on as normal!

Today, there was an official announcement that effective May 1st, the weekend here in Oman will no longer be Thursday/Friday (Friday is the holy day) and it will change to Friday/Saturday.  This is actually the  common form of the weekend in the Middle East.  Oman was one of the very few with Thursday/Friday.

We are just waiting now, to see how things will change.  I mean, that is a lot to change for businesses and the schools.  We are all quite curious to how this will effect the rest of the school year.  We are assuming we'll change to a Sunday-Thursday school week for the rest of the year but who knows?  All the formatting changes to school documents and such.

It's all just weird!

Almost... but not yet

Well, baby girl is being stubborn and has stayed in place until her due date (today).  Luckily, I am still feeling pretty good overall and despite (for sure) being ready to have her out, I'm not overly uncomfortable or going out of my mind.  I am also mindful that I think her actual due date is closer to the 7th based on when we are pretty sure she was conceived.  So, I'll give her some grace there.

At my appointment today, they did the CTG monitoring for 20 minutes and she is healthy and happy in there.  Her heartbeat is normal and she is still moving regularly.  My OB did a check and I am at 2 cm, so my body is getting ready and she is in position to make her entrance into the world.  My OB also "swiped my membranes" a bit to see if that would help labor get going.  I am hopeful but not expecting anything at this point.

Here I am at 40 weeks.

Happy Easter! -By Aberly

Yesterday was Easter and I had a lot of fun!  I even slept in till 7:45 which Mommy said was her and Daddy's Easter gift.  I'm not sure what she meant by that.

First, the Easter bunny came while I was sleeping and had a special basket of treats all ready for me in the dining room.  He gave me some great things!  I got a new apron for helping mommy make cookies, some matchbox cars, glow in the dark stars AND moon for my ceiling, my own little mug, and a special "Big Sister" shirt!

Next, I used my empty basket to find the 12 eggs he hid in our living room.  Mom said he hid them in our living room since it's getting warmer now outside and he didn't want any of the candy in the eggs to melt or get slimy.  I found them all with only a little help from Daddy and Mommy.

After all that, we went outside to have a special Easter brunch with our TAISM unit neighbors.  Izzy and her mom and dad,  Marin and Ian and their mom and dad, and Jason's family (dad and two big brothers).   His half sister was also visiting and she was very nice.  We had all kinds of yummy things!  Real ham that Marin's parents brought back from Dubai, a fruit salad, granola and yogurt, an egg and potato casserole, biscuits and gravy, AND my personal favorite, cinnamon Monkey bread.  I think that was most of our favorites.

The rest of the day, I played with a few friends and then dyed Easter eggs with mommy.  That was super cool!  I can't wait for Easter next year!
